Las Vegas, NV is a great place to live. If you’re new to the area, you may not be aware of all the unique challenges that the climate in Las Vegas presents to your home. At Leo Insurance Group, we have the experience and expertise to ensure that your home insurance meets your needs and that you understand what it covers and what isn’t.
Floods
Living in a desert environment may lead you to think that floods are not an issue in Las Vegas, but that’s not correct. Recently, heavy rain caused extensive flooding of roads and onto some properties. If you live in that area and don’t have a specific flood insurance policy, then any damage your home may sustain will not be covered. If, however, a pipe bursts in your home and causes flooding, this is covered.
Owner neglect
This is the most open category and encompasses a wide range of things. Your home insurance carrier expects you to maintain your home. If your home sustains damage due to neglect, it will not be covered. Some things considered owner neglect include infestations. If pests damage your home, whether they are rodents or insects, it is your responsibility. You are expected to treat your home for these hazards before an infestation happens. Wear and tear is not covered, so if your roof is getting old, any damage you sustain from leakage into your home is not covered.
Earth movement
Earthquakes, mudslides, landslides, and sinkholes are not covered. The good news is that you can purchase additional coverage to protect yourself.
